For the questions that feel too important for a quick answer, there is the grand form: the Yes or No tarot with five cards. More voices, a finer picture — just as, for a big decision, you would rather ask five friends than one.

You choose five face-down cards from the 22 major arcana. When they turn over, the position counts: upright cards vote for yes, reversed ones against. If three or more come out upright, the tarot answers Yes — and the cards, one by one, tell you where the favourable wind or the resistance comes from.

Five cards give the answer nuance: a tight three-to-two reads differently than a unanimous yes. It is precisely these half-tones that make the grand reading.
