The Bocca della Verità — the Mouth of Truth — has been Rome's most famous lie detector for two thousand years: whoever put their hand into the marble mouth and swore falsely, the legend says, lost it. Asking it a question means wanting an honest answer — even if it is uncomfortable.
This oracle carries that spirit into the quick consultation: ask your question and lay it before the marble mouth — it answers brief and incorruptible, yes, no or perhaps, without diplomacy, as befitted the priestess of Apollo.
