What is your Mayan animal by birth date?
This calculator uses the popular thirteen-animal system now known as the “Mayan horoscope”. The result does not define you; it is a symbolic mirror for exploring qualities, excesses and useful questions. The year only validates the date, while the calculation uses day and month entirely in your browser.
The 13 animals and their dates
Modern sources do not always agree on names or boundaries. This widely used arrangement covers every day of the year without overlaps.

How to interpret your reading
Your essence describes the central impulse, your strength the talent in balance, and your shadow its possible excess. Love and work bring the symbol into everyday life. Not every sentence has to fit; keep the ideas that open a useful question.
The real Maya calendar: Tzolk’in, Haab’ and the Calendar Round
Maya peoples developed several interlocking cycles. The Tzolk’in joins twenty day names with thirteen numbers; the Haab’ approximates the solar year through eighteen twenty-day months and the five days of Wayeb’. The same combination returns after 52 Haab’ years: the Calendar Round.
This knowledge does not belong only to the past and remains alive in contemporary Maya communities. That is why we have avoided using sacred glyphs as decoration or blending the historical calendar with this modern zodiac.
