In the tonalpohualli, every day combines one of twenty signs with a number from 1 to 13. Enter your birth date to discover your tonalli in this documented recreation of the Mexica ritual count and explore a contemporary symbolic reading.
What is your tonalli?
The day, month and year are all essential. The sign advances through a sequence of twenty while the number moves through a sequence of thirteen; the exact combination returns after 260 days. People born on the same day and month in different years therefore need not share a result.
Your result includes its number and day sign, followed by a reading of essence, strengths, challenges, relationships, work and practical guidance. Use it as language for reflection, not as a fixed prediction.

How does the 260-day cycle work?
The numbers and signs advance together, but their sequences have different lengths. After 13 the number returns to 1, while the signs continue until all twenty are complete. The exact pairing repeats only when both wheels return to their shared starting point: 13 × 20 = 260 days.
The count had ritual and divinatory uses. The National Autonomous University of Mexico explains that the ritual calendar comprised twenty groups of thirteen days and that a birth date could be consulted in books concerned with destinies.
Which correlation does the calculator use?
Converting a European date into a Mesoamerican count requires choosing a historical correlation. We follow the reconstruction associated with Alfonso Caso and use 13 August 1521 in the Julian calendar—23 August 1521 in the proleptic Gregorian calendar—as 1 Coatl. Patrick Johansson’s study in Arqueología Mexicana documents that designation for the fall of Mexico-Tenochtitlan.
Other scholarly correlations and debates exist. We therefore describe the result transparently as a recreation based on one stated method, not an absolute answer for every Nahua tradition or community.
A contemporary, respectful reading
Nahua peoples did not reduce the tonalli to a modern personality quiz. Our readings use each symbol to reflect on qualities, tensions and everyday choices without inventing historical quotations or claiming that a sign determines your fate.
The value of the result lies in the question it opens: how do you express your sign’s movement today, and how do you relate to the rhythm of its number?
