Who is my guardian angel?

Every person is born under one of the 72 angels of the Kabbalah. Give your day and month — no year needed — and discover which one walks beside you.

It is the kind of question people ask under their breath: who is my guardian angel? The kabbalistic tradition has had an answer for centuries: the 72 angels of the Shem HaMephorash, the name of 72 letters. Each of them rules about five days of the year — a quinary — and the one who governed your days when you were born is yours. You do not choose it: you discover it.

That is why no year, surname or email is needed here: your day and month are enough. The wheel of the 72 begins at 0° Aries — the 21st of March, with the astrological year — and goes once around the whole calendar, from Vehuiah to Mumiah. Your date falls within the span of one of them, and that is your birth angel.

For each one we give you what tradition attributes to him: his name, his choir (seraphim, cherubim, thrones… the nine orders of classical angelology), his days of rulership, his gift and the way to ask him. And his seal: the name traced over the letter wheel, the way sigils have always been drawn — each angel has his own, because the seal is the name.

Is it dogma? No: it is one of the most beautiful traditions of Western mysticism, the same one studied by Papus and the Christian kabbalists of the Renaissance. Take it as it has always been taken — a name that walks with you, a figure to whom you can address what cannot be said aloud — and if it serves you as comfort or compass, it has already done its work.
