Calculate your North Node and South Node

☊ · ☋

The lunar nodes form one axis. The South Node describes familiar resources and responses; the North Node points toward qualities that develop through conscious practice. Calculate their signs and houses in your birth chart.

The date determines the nodal sign. Time and city place the axis in the houses of your birth chart.

How to read your lunar nodes

The axis is a conversation, not a battle between a bad part and a good one. The South Node supplies experience; the North asks you to use it in a new way.

The sign describes the style

It shows the qualities that come by habit in the South and those that need conscious practice in the North.

The house describes the setting

It shows where the familiar pattern repeats and where experiences invite a wider response.

Do not abandon the South

Its talents are still useful. The work is to stop using them as the only answer and place them in service of the North.

Does the North Node predict my destiny?

No. Astrology treats it as a symbolic direction of development, not an obligation or a guaranteed event.

Why is the birth time needed?

The node stays in one sign for many months, while houses rotate throughout the day. Time and city are needed to calculate the Ascendant and the correct house.

What is the difference between mean and true node?

The mean node smooths short-term oscillations in the Moon’s orbit; the true node attempts to include them. Both methods are used in astrology.

How often do the nodes change signs?

They move retrograde through the zodiac in about 18.6 years and spend roughly a year and a half in each sign.
