Graphology is the science that studies writing. It analyzes all graphemes, or which is the same, all symbols written at hand.
The most studied grapheme is the handwriting, but signatures, headings, numbers, squiggles and draws are studied.
Handwriting is the mirror of the conscious and unconscious mind of every human being, so it can reveal the personality, mood, emotions, ambitions, personal potentials and all the characteristics that make every human being unique.
In the handwriting, besides the brain and the muscles that move the hand, elements like the brain and memory also interact. This last one processes at the same time all the information.
This science studies every line made on a sheet of paper. This process, combine with the emotions, are the ones who reveal the most deep psyche and physical status.

Graphology is also used in enterprises because when analyzing the handwriting of each candidate it is possible to find the correct person, provide him/her the correct capacity, or place him/her in the correct position. It is also useful to provide vocational orientation, human resources and personnel selection.
The analysis of graphemes can reveal, in scholarship, learning disorders or particular capacities. It’s also useful in criminology, because several skills can be done through handwriting. It’s also used in psychology and psychiatry.
Graphology analysis is based on eight principal points: direction, size, order, style, velocity, pressure when writing, tilt angle and continuity. It’s also bear in mind the organization when writing, disposal, and use of spaces and margins.
The direction or the trajectory of lines in the paper determines the different moods in humor and will, constancy and stability, just as the level of maturity, convictions and values.
The size, which is the space occupied by the writing, shows the author needs and expansion of impulses; the self-image and level of expressiveness.
The order, that is related to the distribution of letters, words and lines, shows the adaptive and organizational capacity. It shows the adaptation and maladjustment to society.
The style, which is the kind of predominant streak in writing, is related with the cultural level and manners. It shows also the mood, worries and interests.
The velocity refers to the quantity of letters a person can write per minute, and it shows the level of intelligence, the rhythm in activity and the manifestation of temperament, impulses and mood of the person.
The pressure, watching the different contrasts of ink let on the paper we can see the intensity of streaks which reveal the energy, feelings, vitality and instincts of the person who writes.It also shows the determination and the capacity of personal fulfillment.
The tilt angle is the projection of the writing to the left or right. It indicates the need of contact with other people, the introversion and extroversion of the author.
The continuity, determined by the union or separation within letters or words. It shows the intelligence, ability to link ideas and concepts, intuition, constancy and the ability to function in different situations.
