An ancient technique, made clear
What is an annual profection?
Annual profections are a Hellenistic astrology technique that advances the focus of the chart by one house for every year of life. The first year begins in the 1st house; after all twelve houses, the cycle starts again.
It is not meant to describe everything that will happen. Its useful role is to identify the life area asking for attention and the planet worth watching from one birthday to the next.
The house
The life area that comes forward: identity, resources, home, relationships, vocation, rest or another chapter of experience.
The sign
The whole sign occupying that house from your Ascendant; it describes the style through which the topic moves.
The time lord
The traditional ruler of the activated sign. Its natal condition and transits add the detail that this simple technique cannot know alone.
Why does the result change on my birthday?
A profection describes a year of age, not a calendar year. The cycle that begins at age 30 ends just before the 31st birthday.
What if I was born on February 29?
In non-leap years the calculator uses February 28 as the working anniversary. When February 29 exists again, it uses your actual date.
Does this replace a birth chart or transits?
No. A profection selects one house and one important planet. The natal chart, solar return and transits provide the detail it cannot supply by itself.
